Kidnapping incidents persist in Anambra State, defying stern warnings from Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. In the latest occurrence, an unidentified man was abducted on Sunday night at Aku village, Ezinifitte community in Aguata Local Government Area.

A relative of the victim, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the man was kidnapped around 11 PM and held captive in his own vehicle while negotiations for ransom were ongoing.

The relative raised an alarm about the incident at 11:30 PM on Sunday but later confirmed on Monday morning that the victim had been released.

“The kidnapped victim was thankfully released this morning, but not without a heavy cost—his entire bank account was emptied through a POS transaction linked to a MoniePoint account,” the relative disclosed.

Though the exact amount taken from the victim’s account was not revealed, the relative expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received during the ordeal.

“I deeply appreciate all your prayers, messages, and offers of help during this difficult time. Your support means so much,” he added.

He also appealed for information on how to recover funds lost through such fraudulent transactions.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

This incident adds to the growing list of kidnapping cases in Anambra, highlighting the challenges of curbing criminal activities in the state despite government efforts.
