Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe has criticized three players following the team’s 3-1 Premier League loss to Brighton on Sunday. Sharpe singled out Kobbie Mainoo, Diogo Dalot, and Noussair Mazraoui for their underwhelming performances.

Speaking during his punditry on Stadium Astro, Sharpe described Mainoo as “off the pace” and said that Dalot and Mazraoui failed to deliver strong performances.

“Poor again,” Sharpe said, assessing Manchester United’s overall display. “There’s a lack of confidence. A deep-rooted lack of confidence. Players are taking an extra touch when they don’t need to and hesitating on where to pass. It’s not free-flowing or natural.

“They’re giving the ball away cheaply and being caught in possession. They didn’t create enough chances going forward.

“I thought Mainoo looked off the pace. The two fullbacks, Dalot and Mazraoui, didn’t have particularly great games either. You need them to get forward and help out, but they didn’t really do that. It was disappointing.”

Manchester United will aim to bounce back when they face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.
