The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has raised concerns about an alleged plot involving the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and security agencies to arrest Hon. Ugochinyere Michael Ikeagwuonu, the lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency. According to CUPP, the plan is intended to silence one of the most vocal and incorruptible opposition leaders in Nigeria. The coalition claims that Wike’s faction, in collaboration with security forces, has been training fake witnesses to provide false testimony against Ikeagwuonu. CUPP condemns this as an attempt to defame and intimidate the lawmaker, emphasizing his unwavering commitment to truth and justice.
In response, CUPP announced plans for nationwide protests to resist the alleged plot, although Wike’s spokesperson and Nigerian security agencies have not yet commented on these allegations. The lawmaker, Ikeagwuonu, has been particularly critical of Wike, especially in relation to the ongoing crisis within the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
