Popular Nigerian filmmaker and comedian, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has expressed frustration over the perceived lack of support from fellow men despite his dedication and hard work in the entertainment industry.

Taking to his social media platform on X, AY lamented that men often show more willingness to support women than their male counterparts.

The comedian further claimed that he remains the only male filmmaker in Nigeria who has not stepped away from the craft due to insufficient backing.

In his post, AY wrote, “One day men will tell a man ‘what did man do to man.’ We work tirelessly to remain relevant and fulfill our responsibilities. Must we have breasts and curves to earn the support of other men? I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up.”

AY’s comments highlight ongoing conversations about the challenges faced by creatives in the Nigerian entertainment space, particularly regarding peer support and collaboration.
