Popular Nigerian skit maker and activist, Debo Adedayo, widely known as Mr. Macaroni, has reiterated his decision to snub Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This declaration comes in response to criticism from a social media user accusing him of disrespecting the governor.
An X user, @OyesileJohn, posted:
“To d’ifa fun a certain Macaroni who, in an attempt to please the mob, snubbed the governor of Lagos state. Omo ase.”
The post drew mixed reactions online, with many defending Mr. Macaroni’s stance.
In a series of posts on his X handle, Mr. Macaroni firmly stood by his decision, stating that the governor holds no significance to him.
“I will continue to snub your governor. He doesn’t mean anything to me, neither do you or your father. I love that you slaves bring this issue up all the time. For every time you do, I will send you to your masters,” he wrote.
Explaining the rationale for his position, Mr. Macaroni recounted a traumatic encounter with the Lagos State government, during which he alleged he was stripped naked, beaten, tortured, and dehumanized.
He said the ordeal occurred during his detention by police officers, who warned him to stop “disturbing the governor.”
“I can never mingle with the government that stripped me naked, beat, tortured, brutalized, and dehumanized me,” he added.
The exchange has reignited debates on social media, with many applauding Mr. Macaroni’s steadfastness in holding the government accountable, while others argue he should adopt a more conciliatory approach.
As a vocal critic of government policies and a staunch advocate for human rights, Mr. Macaroni remains a polarizing figure in Nigerian social and political discourse.
