Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has joined calls for the release of rapper Speed Darlington, who remains in detention despite a court order for his freedom.
Speed Darlington was reportedly arrested following allegations that he suggested Burna Boy engaged in an illicit relationship with embattled American music executive Diddy in a bid to win a Grammy Award. The rapper’s continued detention, which has now lasted 45 days, has drawn mixed reactions from the public.
Taking to his Instagram Story, Bobrisky made an emotional appeal to Burna Boy, urging him to forgive Speed Darlington and facilitate his release.
“I just want to mind my business this year and stay away from anything connected to Nigerian celebrities. But my soft heart won’t let me ignore this.
“Please Burna Boy, forgive Speed [Darlington]. Prison is not a nice place. I don’t think he can afford a VIP section because it’s expensive,” Bobrisky wrote.
The rapper’s prolonged detention has sparked debates about freedom of speech, with some condemning the arrest as excessive while others support Burna Boy’s stance.
Neither Burna Boy nor Speed Darlington’s representatives have commented on Bobrisky’s plea as of the time of this report.
The situation continues to unfold, with growing calls for a resolution to the controversy surrounding Speed Darlington’s arrest.
